Lequin leadership development

Training · led by Peter Willis

Most leadership training is forgotten in six months. Ours is built to stick.

Peter Willis runs training at Lequin. His work starts where 9 out of 10 in feedback ends and nothing has changed. 19 years inside BNP Paribas CIB since 2007, plus National Australia Bank, ASDA, Debenhams, Capita and EDF. We facilitate from the background, not the front.

We'll send a written summary within 48 hours and tell you if this training is the right fit.

Three moments

Three moments training gets called for

The Heads of L&D we work with most often arrive in one of three moments. If your situation isn't on this list, the discovery call is the right next step.

01

The management training that didn't stick

Six months ago you ran the management training. Feedback was strong. Energy lasted a fortnight. Behaviour didn't move. Now the HRD is asking what changed and you don't have a clean answer. This is where most training fails: the workshop runs, the room nods, the environment doesn't shift.

02

The leadership programme the HRD is asking about

Annual budget review is coming. The HRD wants to know what last year's programme delivered. The scores were good. The retention isn't. Decisions still stall, difficult conversations still get avoided, and the cohort is asking when the next module is. You need a different kind of answer.

03

The new senior cohort the business is investing in

You've identified a group of leaders the business needs to develop over the next twelve months. The training has board sign-off. The pressure is to design something that shifts behaviour and survives past the cohort. Off the shelf won't do it. Bespoke is the right answer.

How we run the room

Why our training translates to action

Most leadership training is forgotten before it's used. The room feels good in the session. The behaviour doesn't shift in the months that follow. The environment around the leader didn't change with the training, so the training didn't stick.

Senior facilitators, corporate backgrounds

Not ex-academic, not ex-public-sector. People who've sat where your senior leaders are sitting now. They can read the room because they've been in the room.

Behaviour first, not models first

We don't sell the latest framework. We help leaders understand the behavioural patterns driving the people around them: why certain conversations fail, why resistance appears, why tension escalates. Greater awareness creates greater agency. The model serves the behaviour, not the other way round.

The work that happens after the workshop

Most providers run the session and leave. We build in the follow-up: short reinforcement sessions, practical application, and space to reflect on what's actually changing back in the real environment. The part most providers skip is usually the part that makes the behaviour stick.

The course was a success, not only because of the high quality content and interactive delivery, but also due to the trainer's personal touch that got even the most difficult people connected and engaged in any mission!

How a workshop fits

How a workshop fits inside a wider engagement

A single workshop rarely shifts behaviour on its own. Most senior cohorts run three to six of these across a 12-month engagement, paired with follow up coaching and manager check ins, the environment work that makes the training stick.

The catalogue gives us a frame. The engagement gives us the architecture around it: the sequencing across the cohort year, the conversations between sessions, the reinforcement back in the business. That combination is what survives past the room. The workshop on its own usually doesn't.

Picking the right one

Often the workshop you choose isn't the one you arrived for

Peter scopes every senior training engagement personally. Part of that conversation is helping the buyer pick the right entry point: which workshop opens the cohort, which behaviour the business actually needs shifted first, which conversation the leadership team has been avoiding.

Often the workshop that gets chosen is not the one the buyer thought they wanted. That's the conversation worth having before any workshop runs.

Long relationships

Training that survives past the room

19 years of training inside BNP Paribas CIB. Multi-year training for National Australia Bank, ASDA and Debenhams. EDF, Capita, Viacom and HSBC Private Bank across two decades.

We've designed enough training to know what survives past the room and what doesn't. The training that survives is the training that includes the follow-up. We build that in from the start.

The work stays joined up. Peter designs the work and is involved in delivering it. The context, relationships and conversations carry through.

Before booking

Questions Heads of L&D ask before booking training

Lequin is usually brought in as a specialist training partner rather than a one-off programme provider. Some clients run our 90-minute workshops across large leadership populations. Others use us for half-day or full-day senior leadership training. In both cases, the focus is behavioural change that survives past the session.

Where to start

Most training engagements with Lequin begin one of two ways. Both are free or fixed price. Neither starts with a sales pitch.

Option one

The 30-minute discovery call

30 minutes with Peter. He'll ask about the cohort, the brief, what's been tried, and what didn't work. We send a written summary within 48 hours, including whether we think this training is the right fit. About one in four scoping calls turns into a paid engagement. The rest end in a clean handover.

Option two

The £1,500 pilot workshop

A 90-minute online workshop for up to 12 of your leaders. Choose one topic from our list. We lead the session, your people take part, you watch the work. If we're the wrong fit, we'll tell you and you keep the materials. Most pilots happen within 6 weeks of booking.
