Supporting cultural transformation and leadership alignment at EDF Dalkia UK

Helping a newly formed executive team build trust, alignment and a shared culture during organisational change.

A senior leadership team in a strategy session

01

The work

Following a major leadership transition, Dalkia UK, part of the EDF Group, partnered with Lequin to support the newly appointed CEO and Board in shaping a new organisational culture, strengthening collaboration across the senior team, and aligning leadership behaviour with the company's long-term strategic ambitions.

Working closely with the CEO, HR leadership and Board, Lequin designed and facilitated a series of leadership and team development interventions focused on building trust, improving collective effectiveness, and helping senior leaders understand the different motivators, values and behavioural styles across the team.

At a critical point in the organisation's evolution, the business was defining and implementing a new four-year strategy aimed at reshaping how the organisation worked internally and delivered externally to customers. Lequin supported the Board in creating greater alignment around this strategic direction, while also helping leaders navigate the personal and interpersonal challenges that often accompany organisational change and expanded leadership responsibilities.

Five years on

As part of the wider leadership programme, Lequin also used experiential equine-assisted development to help senior leaders build trust, improve communication and step more confidently into expanded leadership roles. Following the acquisition and restructuring of the business, Lequin continued to support the evolving senior leadership team as individuals stepped into broader and more complex roles.

Five years on, Lequin continues to work closely with Dalkia UK's leadership team. During this period, the organisation has successfully delivered against many of the strategic and cultural ambitions set out at the beginning of the partnership, while continuing to evolve its leadership capability, organisational culture and collaborative ways of working.

Over time, Lequin has become a trusted external partner to the executive team during a sustained period of organisational growth, cultural development and strategic transformation.

In their words

Lequin has worked with the Imtech [EDF] Board since Gautier took over as CEO and established his new senior team. The business needed to define and roll out a new four-year strategy aimed at reshaping how we work and deliver to our customers. They have played a key role in helping us understand how we can work together to develop our culture and deliver our strategic ambitions. They continue to add huge value to our development as a senior team.

Lequin has supported Dalkia UK in two important areas following the leadership transition in 2020. They designed and delivered team development for our Board with the objective to build trust and foster collaboration across our senior team. They also partnered with us on our Diversity & Inclusion workshops, a new strategic theme, and a major challenge. Their work has been impactful and greatly valued by all. Their ability to understand our specific objectives, to consider the collective and individual dynamics, and to drive genuine engagement from everyone have been key to the success of these initiatives.
